Single Remote for the Gate and Garage
Review: Single Remote for the Gate and Garage is Less Hassle and Easy to Setup.
It can be frustrating having to fumble around finding the correct remote for the gate or garage. I also noticed that the range on my transmitters, especially for the garage, was getting weaker despite replacing the battery. A Google search came up with multiple posts about the signal strength getting weaker over time.
Some of our residents have purchased the SM24 Universal Remote on Amazon because I was done with multiple remotes in my car and the shortened range. Here are the PRO's:
- One remote can open the front gate and your garage.
- Multicode compatible so no concerns that someone else can open your garage.
- Transmitter strength is much stronger as evidenced by increased range.
- Obviously compatible with the front gate, but also a multitude of over garage door openers (see the description on the link above).
- It not ver expensive and for the money, it's a great value.
Cons:
- They have to be programmed. It takes about 5 minutes to do it. Reading the directions a couple of times may be necessary in order to understand the proper steps.
- The buttons are not easy to recognize in low light. This can be resolved by putting a piece of tape over one of the buttons to differentiate them.
- in order to program your garage door, your garage remote must be listed in the compatability table which is on the Amazon Website. Just look at the description at the Amazon Website.
If you choose to purchase and need help with programming, just send a message to info@wallacecsd.com. Last-minute tips:
- Replace the batteries in all of your remote controls. It's probably time.
- Cold weather is coming, so be sure to have a remote opener for all of your vehicles.
- If you see any suspicious circumstances around the gate, report it to the Calaveras Sheriff at 209-754-6500. If it's an emergency, dial 911.
- Verify who you are allowing into the neighborhood. Don't just let anyone into the gate that calls, especially at odd hours of the night.
